Taking Care of Your Finances is Taking Care of You!
Nov 09, 2020
On my list of things to do this week is to get back to budgeting.I was doing really well with it at the beginning of 2020 but then over the summer, I started slacking and at this point, it’s gone by the wayside!
But that doesn’t mean I can’t recommit to what I started doing months ago. Did you know that one of the ways that you show yourself love is by engaging in financial self-care?
What does that mean anyways? For me, knowing that I’m in control of my money, knowing what’s going in and out of our account and making sure that I am spending it wisely helps me feel less stressed.
I listen to Dave Ramsey podcasts (& I’ve read his books) and we’re almost through Baby Step 2. Are you familiar with DR? I know that the system works and so I must persevere and budgeting is part of the solution, that’s for sure.
Taking care of our finances is self-care. Aside from lowering my stress, the act of creating goals and moving towards them helps to keep me motivated and focused on making my dreams happen. And of course, the dreams I have for my family too.
For years, we lived paycheck to paycheck and the anxiety that came with that was exhausting. Around the same time that I started making conscious self-care decisions regarding my physical and mental well-being, I also started working on a plan for our finances.
I was sick of never having any money because it all went to bills and more bills. I knew that there was a better way to handle things which is why I decided to make it a priority and in doing so, I discovered that I had the power to take better care of my family, just by engaging in this simple self-care act.
Are you sick of living paycheck to paycheck and know that there is a better way for your family to live? If you are ready to start taking care of yourself by gaining a bit more control of your finances, then I encourage you to consider creating a budget.
Watch this week's video where I share with you how to take control of your finances so that you can lower your stress and get more control of your life.
